Apple Cards

Apple Cards are 5 X 7 high quality greeting cards, blank inside, with matching envelopes. The first two series feature beautiful photography of historical, or "antique" apple varieties. Descriptions and historical notes are on the back of each card. Or you can choose from two series of period fruit crate art.

Gift boxes with 8 cards are $14.95; with 12 cards $18.95.


Historic Apple Photos- Series I

The images to the right show you the four photos in this series. Click on an image to see a larger version.

  1. Holstein- a seedling of Cox's Orange Pippin discovered in Germany around 1918. This one was grown by John Kilcherman in 1998.
  2. Adams Pearmain- an old English variety. Grown by Herb Teichman, 1999.
  3. White Pearmain- another old English variety that been traced back to 1200 AD. Grown by Sonoma Antique Apple Nursery 2000.
  4. Smokehouse- a seedling discovered in 1837 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, by William Gibbons near his smokehouse. grown by John Kilcherman, 2000.

  1. Maiden Blush- originated in New Jersey and first described in 1817. These were grown by Versil White, Elk apids, Michigan in 1998.
  2. Strawberry Chenango- an old English variety. Grown by Spicer Orchards 2000.
  3. Boskoop- originated in near Boskoop, Holland in the 1850's. Grown by Herb Teichman in 1999.
  4. Yellow Bellflower- a seedling discovered in the 1700's in Burlington county, New Jersey. Grown by John Eastman, Wheeler, Michigan, 2000.
