Special note for teachers: In Colorado, more so than any other state, the apple orchards are a long way from the major population centers. Many pples are grown on the western slope, and then brought into farm markets closer to Denver and Boulder. We encourage you to support the apple growers by visiting the markets listed here, but bear in mind that the distances between the markets and the orchards might make day trips and orchard tours impractical.
The three exceptions we are aware of are: Happy Apple Farm in Penrose; Colon Orchards in Canon City; and YA YA Farm and Orchard in Longmont. All are within reach for schools in the Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, Pueblo, and Colorado Springs areas.
